  • The Governor of Kenya Sir Evelyn Baring,told a large assembly of loyal African that the government and war council of Kenya were determined that intensified operations against Mau Mau,wherever they may be would be resolutely maintained and continued until every terrorist had been captured or killed or had surrendered.
  • However the governor then stated that,after consultation with the Leaders of African loyalists in the central province Advisory Council,and with their agreement ,it had been decided that any Mau Mau terrorist who voluntarily surrendered would not be prosecuted for any offence connected with the emergency committed prior to January 18 ,1955.
