  • Sir Edward Twining said ”there no room in Tanganyika for the heady wine of nationalism based on emotion and not reason which is infact a perverted type of patriotism;our goal is nationhood based on strong local loyalties and civic pride.”Then came a reminder that economic development was more important than political or social progress ,since it alone could raise the standards of living of the people by supplying them with the social services which they desired and required.
