- “The Prime Minister of Southern Rhodesia, Mr. Winston Field, has said in his own Parliament that the decision of the British Government to allow the secession of Nyasaland and the accession to power of the new coalition Government in Northern Rhodesia to the fore. Little as southern Rhodesia wanted to become involved in more constitutional crises, it was obvious that i, as the First Secretary ,would attempt to find a solution to the problem of the future of the three territories or at any rate two of them, probably with a looser arrangement for the third Nyasaland”.
