- Mr. Meiring director of the South African Information Service appealed not for a new political or social creed in South Africa but for a fresh individual approach to inter-racial relations , for practical everyday goodwill and understanding between white and non-white and for a common allegiance to a country big and strong enough to contain them all .He said “I believe that we have laid the foundation for an experiment in racial harmony which may yet astound the world”.
