- Since the Lancaster House conference the march of events had gone sadly awry in Kenya. Immediately after Conference Mr. Tom Mboya said in Toronto that Jomo Kenyatta was the true leader of the Africans and that he would be the first Prime Minister of an independent Kenya. Since then the “cult of Kenyatta “has gained great emotional force and the African leaders must atleast pay lip service to it if they are to retain their following. Whether all of them wish for the release of Kenyatta ,and would be willing to accept his undisputed leadership if he were released, is another matter.
