- The Secretary of the Colonies, Mr Iain Macleod ,has stated that when any one of the three East African Territories achieves independence the position of the East Africa High Commission will be reviewed. Mr Julius Nyerere has stated that a continuance of the High Commission services in Tanganyika would not be compatible with the status of the territory as an independent country.
