- The French Government is watching events in the Congo with mixed feelings .On one hand it fears that the unrest, particularly in its tribal aspects could spread to the newly independent ex-french territory of the Congo .On the other hand it is hoped in Paris that some unexpected benefits can be reaped from the crisis.
