Some parliamentarians have taken umbrage at press criticism, especially from Mr. Phillip Ochieng’ editor-in-chief of the Kenya Times, for the frequent interruption of the parliamentary business due to lack of quorum. Parliamentarians have a contract with the electorate to work full-time and part of that work is to attend sessions of parliament so as to deliberate on legislation and represent the public on important national issues. If they so fequently absent themselves from parliamentary meetings as to interrupt the business of parliament, then they are not living up to their part of the contract.
