The five-day week regime in Kenya comes to an end barely one year after it came into effect. The trade unions and their members, who had convinced the government of the need for the change-over, seem not to have been eager to instil discipline amongst their members during the transitional period. On the part of the government, not much thought had gone into the full implications of the change-over.
