- Better overall performance of the economy enebled Kenya to record a balance of payments surplus of 73 million euros during 1986 compared witha deficit of 94 million euros .This according to Economic survey 1987 resulted from a rapid growth of exports and a modest ruise in imports ,occassioned by a lower energy bill following lower petroleum prices.
