Mr. Charles Njonjo’s fall from power in Kenya seems to be softening Tanzania’s attitude towards Kenya. The prime minister , Mr. Edward Sokoine, in a surprise statement called for the establishment of diplomatic relations between his country and Kenya. According to Sokoine, the fact that the border between the two countries is closed is no reason for relations between the two countries not to be cordial and the efforts should be made to straighten out all the legal machinery necessary to enable trade between Kenya and Tanzania to take place.
