- Tom Mboya, the secretary of Trade Unions told the press that the Trade Union membership in Nairobi before Operation Anvil was 50,000 and all members paid a subscription of 1 sh per month and in a speech from the throne the Governor-General His Excellency E.G Jansen stated the parliament will at the appropriate time be asked to give consideration to the separate representation of voters and the question of sovereignty of Parliament
